"Sgt. Eldon Frair, son of Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Frair, was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds in action on the Italian front June 1, 1943. 
A native of Ravenna, Sgt. Frair entered the army in November 1940 when the 132nd FA Hqs Bn was mobilized and then went overseas in April 1943 and into action at Salerno on Sept. 9, 1943.  He was engaged in farming when he entered the service."
