This was the old Trading Post and was also a place where settlers in today's

area of Grayson and Fannin County went during Indian Attacks.

This area was the county seat .But the first court was held at Tulip before it moved here. A Log courthouse was built in Warren in 1840.

Historical Marker reads: Fort Warren "First Settlement and fort in Fannin County. Built in 1836 by Able Warren, Indian trader from Arkansas to protect his trading post. Kiowa, Caddo , Wichita and other Indians came here to trade furs for piant, knives and trinkets. In Civil War , Fort was a transport and food supply center for Indians to the North and soldiers in Louisiana and Arkansas.
