Final services for Vernal E. Cathey, 53, of two miles north of Monroe, who died Tuesday morning in Lubbock Memorial Hospital after a brief illness, will be held at 10 a.m. today.
Services will be in the Asbury Methodist Church with Dr. C. A. Bickley officiating. Burial will be in Honey Grove Cemetery with Sanders Funeral Home in charge.
Cathey was assistant cashier and teller at First National Bank where he had been employed since 1929. He formerly was assistant cashier at the Ladonia, Texas, bank.
He was treasurer of the Lubbock County Child Welfare Unit and a member of the Asbury Methodist church and the Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his widow and a brother, R. L. of El Paso.
Active pallbearers will include Bert Mackey, Ben Fields, H. C. Daniel, Ben Porter, Rufus Bevers, and G. C. Bevers. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Partain, Cliff Cummings, Carl Hunt, Charlie Williams, J. C. Newton, Herbert Stubbs, E. W. Maben and H. C. Trammel.
