LIZZIE GIST RUTHERFORD - Funeral services have been set for 3:00 p.m. Sunday in Randolph Baptist Church for Mrs. Lizzie Gist Rutherford, who died August 23 in Bonham Nursing Center.  Rev. O.R. Carry and Bob Cantwell will conduct the service.  Burial will be in Randolph Cemetery, with Cooper Sorrells Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
   Mrs. Rutherford was born in Randolph October 28, 1895 to William M. and
Lovina (aka Lavinna" America) Smith Deshane.  She married Emory H.
Rutherford December 15, 1961 in Bokchito, Okla.  He preceded her in death in
April 1974.  She was a housewife and a member of Randolph Baptist Church.
(research comments - Lizzie was the half-sister of Pearl L. Deshane and
Brazoria Ellen Deshane Willoughby, issue of William M. Deshane and Mary
Ellen Bell.  Mary Ellen Bell was the daughter of Thomas A. Bell and Mary
Rice (Nancy) Boone.  Mary Rice Boone was the daughter of Joseph R. Boone and Virginia E.M. Crenshaw.  Lizzie's first husband, James Cowling Gist, who
died 9-16-1956.  Both of Lizzie's husbands are buried in Lindsey Cemetery.)

MRS. LOPER KILLED BY CAR ON HIGHWAY 77
   Mrs. Clara May Loper, 55, a farm woman who lives three and three-quarter
miles north of Pauls Valley was killed instantly when she was struck by a
car driven by Mrs. Hayzen Irene Plunkett, Abbott, Texas, at a point two
miles north of Pauls Valley, highway patrol officer Roy C. Morrison reported
Saturday.
   The accident occurred when Mrs. Loper left a parked car at that point on
U.S. Highway 77 to walk to a mailbox across the road.  The victim apparently
became confused at the prospect of the approach of Mrs. Plunkett's car from
the south and darted back and forth in the path of the oncoming car.
   Mrs. Plunkett, who was enroute to Norman, gave an account of the accident
which was corroborated by a railroad flagman, also a witness to the scene.
The Texas woman was exonerated of blame in the accident, Morrison said.
   She is survived by her husband, Jess Loper, three sons, Pfc. Hurbert
Loper, Cecil Loper, Phoenix, Ariz., Hollis Loper, home address, and two
daughters, Mrs. Rosa My Reynolds, Del Rio, Texas, and Mrs. Roxie White,
Elmore City.  She is also survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S.A. Couch
(Samuel Andrew Couch and  Sarah Mattie Johnson), Pauls Valley, a sister,
Mrs. Odie Williams, Pauls Valley and three brothers, Clarence Couch, Pauls
Valley, and Joe Couch and Roy Couch, both of Plainview, Texas. (research
note - Clara May Couch Loper was the granddaughter of James Perry Johnson
and Sarah Womack Blanton and the g-granddaughter of Fannin Co., TX pioneers Stephen Fletcher Blanton and Sarah McDaniel.)

MARGARET DAUM - Margaret Marie Daum, 80, of Greenville died Wednesday at Presbyterian Hospital in Greenville.  Funeral services are at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Dr. David Stubblefield officiating.  Burial is in Memoryland Memorial Park.
   Mrs. Daum was born March 9, 1920, in Ector; the daughter of Homer D. and
Brazoria DeShane Willoughby.  She was married to William Fl. Daum on March 2, 1940, in Wellington.
   She was a Baptist and a homemaker.
   Surviving are her husband of Greenville; son, Ronnie Daum of Greenville;
daughter, Carole Wood of Greenville; grandchildren, William Keith Wood of
Highland Park, and Kelli Marie Moore of Mesquite; great-grandson, Jacob
Tyler Moore of Mesquite; and sisters, Edna Porter of Oklahoma City, Okla.
and Ruth Lowdon of Dallas.
   She was preceded in death by four brothers (Thomas Henry Willoughby, Joe
Lawrence Willoughby, Robert Bennett Willoughby and Homer D. Willoughby, Jr.)
   Pallbearers are Joe Elliot, Pete Hale, Keith Wood, Jim Wood, Ronnie Daum
and Adam Walterscheld.
   Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.  (Margaret
Daum's grandparents were William M. Deshane and Mary Ellen Bell.  Her
g-grandparents were Thomas A. Bell and Mary Rice (Nancy) Boone and Joseph R.Boone and Virginia E.M. Crenshaw.)

HELEN SMITH - Helen Maurine Smith of Leonard passed away October 8, 1991.
   Services were held Thursday at Taylor Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Henderson officiating.  Burial was in Pike Cemetery.
   She was born on November 27, 1921 to Sam P. and Hettie Ferguson Brake.
She married James C. Smith Jr. on April 8, 1947, in Leonard, Mrs. Smith was
a member of First Baptist Church.
   Surviving are hr husband, a daughter Trenia Baldridge of Winnsboro; a
(half) brother, Tommy Hall of Princeton; a sister, Ruby Minchey of Leonard;
step-sisters, Zettie Browning and Pauline Daughrity of Trenton and four
grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers,
S.P. Brake and Robert Brake.
   Pallbearers were Brent Williams, David Hallmark, Larry Don Hallmark,
Billy Guy Hallmark, Thomas Hallmark; Pete Brake, Ricky Hall. (Helen Brake
Smith was the step-daughter of Benjamin Richard Hall, who died in Fannin
Co., TX 5-26-1978)
