W.A. SUDDERTH
William A, (Bill) Sudderth died
suddenly of a heart attack
at his home here October 8, 1939.
Funeral services
were held at the Baptist Church in this city Wednesday afternoon at 2 o
clock, conducted by the
Rev. David M. Phillips, pastor
of that church, assisted by
Rev. J. W. Joiner,
Rev, C, S, Wilhite and Rev. H.
L. Raynolds.
Burial was
in the Leonard Cemetery with his brother,
Gill Sudderth, local undertaker,
as director.
The pallbearers
were Joe Evans and Everett Woods,
Leonard;
Eldon Little, Commerce; O. L.
Golden, Jr., Bonham;
Fred Anderson and Jim Wilson,
Leonard.
Mr, Sudderth
was born near Bailey, April 16, 1873, son of Mr,
and
Mrs. D. G. Sudderth. He was married in May, 1899, to Miss
Maude Aldridge of Trenton. He
came to Leonard to attend school
when I. W. Evans (deceased) and
Judge Cal T. Freeman of Sherman taught school in Leonard. Mr. Sudderth
taught in the schools of Fannin County two years. He then entered the drug
business and operated a drug store here for 36 years.
He had been
a member of the Baptist Church for about 30 years,
Survivors
are his wife, his mother, Mrs. D. G. Sudderth, 87,
four daughters, Mrs, Claude Young
of Abilene, Mrs, David Wright,
who teaches school at Bailey,
Mrs. Karl Frazier of Washington, D. C,,
and Miss Grace Pearl Sudderth
of Bryan; two sons, Orville Sudderth
of Woodward, Oklahoma, and Mac
Sudderth of Dallas, and nine brtohers: Gill, Jim, Wess, Jess and Virgil
Sudderth, all of Leonard,
Roy Sudderth of Lubbock, A. Sudderth
of Lexington, Oklahoma,
A. Sudderth of Bailey, and Elmer
Sudderth of LaFayette, La., and a host of nieces and nephews. The Leonard
