"About noon today the city was startled by the report of a pistol shot in thecourt-house .J.C. McDonald ,of Cisco, was shot in the tax collector's office by his son-in-law, TOM PACE .The ball entered the abdomen just below the waist, ranged upwards and it is thought passed through the lower part of the right lung.The ball has not been located yet. McDONALD is in great agony,and his doctors say he cannot live long,He struck PACE before the latter did the shooting. A previous difficulty was the cause of the trouble.People generally think the shooting was justifiable as McDONALD is said to have used a pair of knucks in stricking PACE."
