Charlotte Lenora Ross was the ggranddaughter of Rice Farrar Ross (12-3-1776 to 4-8-1865) and Sarah Bonham (8-5-1787 to 3-29-1849). She was the granddaughter of WilliamW. Ross (12-5-1815 to about 1865) and Mary Ann Hendrix (3-25-1825 to 7-23-1904). She was the daughter of Isaac Rice Ross (1851-1943) and Mary Rutha Barton (1850-1929).

Mary Rutha Barton was the gggranddaughter of Joshua Barton (August 19, 1718) and Jane Dubart Barton. She was the ggranddaughter of David Barton, (March 15, 1744) and Hanna Hill Barton. She was the granddaughter of Thomas Barton (November 26, 1844)  and Tabitha Hodges Barton. She was the daughter of William Hill Barton (about 1815, Wilson or Rutherford County, Tennessee) and Susan Allen Barton.  Mary Rutha married Isaac Rice Ross, November 31, 1873, in McNairy County, Tennessee. 

The 1860 census of Jacks  Creek, Henderson County, Tennessee, shows William Hill as age 47 and Mary Rutha age 10. She had seven brothers and sisters. 

The 1900 census, of Hunt County, Texas, shows Isaac born 1852?, Mary R. 1850, Mary Susan 1874, Martha E. 1877, William T. 1882, Charlotte L. 1885, James C. 1891 and Ivy L 1893. 

In the 1910 census, of Hunt County, these were shown in the home: Isaac, Mary R., Mary S., William T., Charlotte L., John A., and Ivy

“Charlotte Lenora Ross was born February 11, 1885 in Little Rock, Arkansas, and died April 1955 in Caddo Mills, Hunt County, Texas. She married Joseph William Bass in 1912 in Lone Oak, Texas. J.W. was the son of Joseph Bass and Martha Cooper. He was born December 4, 1862 in Evergreen, Alabama, and died October 1935 in Lone Oak, Texas

Children of Charlotte Ross and Joseph Bass were: Orval Willis Bass, born April 3, 1913, in Caddo Mills, and died in 1990 in Jacksonville, Florida.  He married  Bernice N. Clift, November 29, 1946. She was born November 7, 1914 in Millington, Tennessee, and died in 1993.

Elva Oleta Bass was born March 11, 1915 in Lone Oak, Texas, and died September 14, 1966 in Greenville, Texas. She married Ivis Walton Ingle October 12, 1933.. He was born August 20, 1909 and died January 27, 2000.

Ila Marie Bass was born in 1918 in Lone Oak, Texas She died in 1972. She married (1) G. L. Price. She married (2) Scotty Whittaker.

Roger William Bass was born August 31, 1920 and died December 11, 1972. He married Gladys Louis Vaughn. She was born in 1920 and died in 1989.

Mary Lenora Bass was born May 30, 1924 in Lone Oak, Texas amd died August 3, 1983, in Fort Worth, Texas. She married (1) Robert Thurman Mahan in Lone Oak. He was born December 29, 1914 and died June 21, 1954. (2) Eliza Leon Wolfe, May 18, 1957. He was born September 26, 1921 and died September 21, 1981.”

I remember Aunt Charlotte as a godly, helpful person. For example, when  we moved from Riley Grove to Lone Oak, she found us a place to rent. When our house burned to the ground, she invited our family of  seven  to move into the back two rooms of her house. The Bass children also meant a lot to us. When Wilson and I graduated from high school, Orval and Roger were in the navy. They sent us fifty dollars. That was a lot of money to us. Since Mr. Bass died in 1935 we did not get to know him so well.  The Bass and Elliott Funeral Home was well known in the area.
