Rev. D.B. Morrill & Wife, Laura H. Morrill

 



"........Ladonia was then,  1860 - 1870 Baptist educational center of North and East Texas, 
and the local Baptist Church had this helpful environment. 
Rev. D.B. Merrill (sic, they meant Morrill), pioneer missionary of renown, 
was located here, he and with members of the church. 
He died here in 1868, she at Waco in 1927, at 84, both rest together in our beaufiful City Cemetery. Another faithful pioneer missionary, Rev. Noah Miller and wife the writers parents, rest there also Others resting there are, Rev. J. Tol Miller and wife, Rev. C.B. Martin and wife, Rev. W.L. Foster (&) wife, their son Rev. S.M.E. Foster
Also deacons, secretaries, organists, pianists, choristers, W.M.S. president and many church member....

According to the cemetery records-

  • Rev.D.B. Morrill & wife = recorded
  • Rev. Noah Miller & wife = There is a Noah & Elizabeth Miller in lot 59 of the Odd Fellows
  • Rev. Rev J. Tol Miller & wife = recorded
  • Rev. C.B. Martin & wife = there is a Nell Martin w/o G.B. Martin, not C.B., but could be typo, but He is not recorded. 
  • Rev. J.F. Hardwick & wife = there is Joel F. & Mary J. Hardwick, but doesn't say Rev.
