GROVER BARRON BISHOP

Grover" Barron" Bishop was the son of Grover and Anna Barron Bishop. He graduated from Ladonia High School in 1934, and married his high school sweetheart, Johni Hilliard. They had one daughter, Bari Lou Bishop

He was assigned to the Battleship Arizona and on December 7, 1941 it took a direct hit, and Barron went down with the ship and its crew.

The Bishop family had saved Barrons letters and had given them to the Nimitz Naval Museum in Fredericksburg, Texas. The letters are dated from February 6, 1935 - November 19, 1941. Copies of his letters can also be seen at his Alma Mater who named their football field "Bishop Field" in his honor.
