James Powell Walker grew up on Mill St. His father
Lee supported the family growing cotton on the family farm south of town.
He attended Ladonia High School graduating in 1913. That fall he attended
Baylor University. His first teaching job was at Bagby school. He was killed
in action during WW1 Aug. 10. 1918 in France. He was brought back to Ladonia
to be buried in his home town on a miserably rainy day.
