Jane Meador Cook

COOK, JANE. It was a beautiful morning, July 4, 2003 when our beloved Jane Claudette Meador Cook left her worldly home for a heavenly place.
July 4th was a proper date to pass on reminding us  of her unwavering patriotic spirit. After a three year battle with Multiple Myeloma she traded her mortal pain for heavenly rewards. Janie was born in Whitewright, Texas on August 29th, 1932. She married Don Howard Cook (Clooney- if your from W.W. Cookie- if you're from Mesquite) on April 29th, 1954. She and Don moved to Mesquite in 1963 where she actively served the community until her death. She received her B.A. in education from North Texas State University in 1953 and her PHT from the University of Texas in 1961. Janie was a life long learner and was recently
enrolled in college classes in order to perfect her computer prowess. She taught school in Fort Worth and Pasadena in the 1950's. She continued her love of teaching informally through interaction with her grandchildren and through Sunday school, vacation bible school, church camps and missionary work in both
Mexico and Wisconsin. She held memberships in Girl Scouts, PTA, Mesquite Women's Club, Junior Women's Study Club, Triskelon as well as served on the Board of Directors of Charger Suburban Hospital of Mesquite. The hours she spent volunteering are too numerous to count. Some of the favorites include Meals on Wheels, Dallas Arboretum, Dallas Museum of Art-Go Van Gogh program. Mission East Dallas Clinic, and last but not least feeding the prisoners as they executed their community service hours. She assumed matriachal duties for her children and grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. There were few things in life that she would not undertake. She assisted with construction of her husband's dental building as well as assuming managerial duties upon his untimely death. She confronted her health challenges with
courage and valor letting few people know the severity of her pain and the dismal prognosis of her disease. She was preceded in death by her parents, C.J. Meador and May Belle Manning Meador, three brothers Joe, Jim and Jack Meador all of Whitewright, Texas. She was also preceded in death by her
husband Dr. Don H. Cook and her son Phillip Howard Cook. She is survived by daughters Elizabeth Cook Moss of Mesquite, Rebekah Kay Cook of Mesquite and son Donald Matthew Cook of Whitewright, grandchildren Mindy, Will and Molly Moss and Morgan, Jaye and Karlee Williams. Memorial contributions may be made Meals on Wheels, Dallas Arboretum or the Mission East
Dallas Medical Clinic sponsored by Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church. Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2003 at the Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church, 9810 LaPrada, Dallas, TX 75228 with Rev. Dennis Hochgraber officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Whitewright,
