GROVES, JOSEPH TAYLOR peacefully passed away in his sleep in Plano, TX at age 93 on June 7th.  Throughout his declining years, Joe never complained. He loved to write poetry and watch baseball.  He was gracious and giving--a true gentleman.  When asked how he felt the answer was always the same, "Very Well!".  He loved his family and he loved his Lord.  Joe attended
First Baptist Church, Plano and was a former student of Texas A&M College.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife Helen Sewall Groves (nee Helen Bryan).
He is survived by sister, Ora Newman of Bonham, niece Lettie Moore of
Dallas, step-children and spouses, Ed and Bobbie Sewall of Dallas, Bryant
and Beverley Sewall of Plano.  John and Gloria Sewall of Little Rock and
Elizabeth Sewall of Lake Charles and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, June 8th at 11:00 AM.
Joe's funeral service will follow in the chapel of Ted Dickey Funeral Home
at 12:00 noon.  Burial will follow at Grove Hill Cemetery in Leonard, Texas.
   Joe was the son of George Fergus Groves and Mary Elizabeth Blanton.  He
was the grandson of Fannin Co., TX pioneers Edward Stephen Groves and Sarah Ann Lemon and of George Washington Blanton and Rebecca Lavina Cox.  His maternal great grandparents were Rev. Burwell Cox and Elizabeth Lindsay and Josiah Blanton and Lucy Westbrook.
