IN MEMORIUM
------------
DIED
On the night of Sept. 30, 1896,
Miss Carrie McFarland.
In her memory the session of the Ladonia Presbyter-
ian church passed the following resolution, Oct. 4,
1896:
Whereas, On the night of September 30th our
be-
loved sister, Carrie McFarland, was coonsumed in the
flames;
Whereas, All evidence proves that she sacrificed
her own life to save others (guests of the hotel)
as well as
members of her own family, therefore,
Resolved, We lament her (seemingly to me) untime-
ly and mysterious death. Yet with sad, though submis-
sive hearts we bow in humble submission, believing
that
The Lord God Omnipresent (?) rangbeth(?).
Resolved, We feel the church has lost a valuable
member, society a friend, and in her last moments
she left
for all a worthy example of sacrificing self to save
others.
Resolved, That a memorial page of the Church
session
book be set apaprt to commemorate the death of our
beloved sister,
Carrie McFarland
Resolved, We hereby tender to the distressed
moth-
er, sisters and brothers our sympathy in this their
sad bereavement.
Resolved, That a copy of these resolutions
befur-
nished to the mother, and a copy to The Ladonia News,
and a copy to the Christian Observer with request
to pub-
lish the same.
