Scott
Family Cemetery
Gravestones Toppled, Need Turning and Restoration
From Debbie Crofford
Previous
Description of this cemetery was: A family cemetery is located
about 6 miles west of Ladonia. It is in the Willow Grove Community. There
are about 10 graves. It is known as the Scott Cemetery. The names are not
available and the period is possibly before 1900.
Feb. 2007, From Debbie Crofford: "I have located
the Scott Family Cemetery. It is a good distance from the Willow Grove
Cemetery, but in the old days, people owned a lot of acreage and walked
many miles to and from school and any work that they could find."
"I was taken to the cemetery
by Granville Fields, along with Audi Apple who both grew up in the Willow
Grove Community. Granville told me it was located behind the barn and house
of the old Scott place, but he couldn't remember any first names. We didn't
even have to search, he took me right to it, unfortunately, it is a mess.........
Only one stone was distinguishable as a marker, and the slabs are so heavy
and embedded, you can't flip them, then there is the problems of the thorns,
it is really overgrown."
"The cemetery is located
at the City line on the opposite side of Rehobeth Cemetery off Hwy 34,
take CR # 3355 going north, continue on this road for 4 to 5 miles. It
is located on the right hand side before you get to where the bridge used
to be. This is now private property, and is posted."
"We counted about 14 or
15 graves."
"Maybe someday a Scott
descendant can give us more information about who should be buried in this
cemetery."
