William Browning is a mystery. I know he was in Hunt County in 1900
with
his son Texas, age 1 month, living with his sister Sarah and her
children. His
wife may have died in childbirth.
Luella Browning Fulps (Mammy) often took the train from Dallas to
Bonham
to visit her siblings. They kept in touch till their final days.
Luella's boys, Frank, Captain Lee and Toby, worked for years as caretakers
for Oakland Cemetery. I have photos of them digging graves. Frank sees
that there is a market for tombstones and opens Fulps Monuments. This business
is now run by his Great Grandson, Roy Fulps. Captain Lee was a jokester
and fun to be around. Where
the name Captain comes from no one surviving knows. He, like
his cousin Lillie, developed a leg cancer, has his leg removed and dies
several years later.
Sarah Browning Clayborne was a wonderful and colorful lady. She was
a member
of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She must have
been very
special as I remember my Great Grandmother speaking of Aunt Sally
often. Sarahs husband, Walter Clayborne, dies young and is buried in Lee
Cemetery, Seagoville, Texas. She brings her children into this world, raises
them and is buried beside
them.
From Sumner County, Tennessee to Fannin County, Texas came the mother, Almina Shy Browning, and all her children. The descendants of these children are scattered all over the United States.
