 NADINE BLANTON - Sherman - Graveside services for Nadine Blanton,
retired Sherman educator, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept.
11, 2002 at West Hill Cemetery.  The Rev. Tom Price, Methodist
minister, will officiate.  // Arrangements are under the direction of
Dannel Funeral Home.  // Nadine Blanton died Friday, Sept. 6, 2002,
in Sherman, Texas.  She was born in Savoy, Texas on Nov. 4, 1909,
the daughter of William Foster and Jennie Wrenn Blanton.  // In 1918
the family moved to Sherman where she received her early education,
graduating from Sherman High School.  She attended Kidd Key College
and received her B.A. Degree from Austin College.  As a career woman, she worked as a secretary in the U.S. Probation Office in both Sherman
and Tyler.  She taught in several small schools in the area and retired as
a history teacher at Piner Middle School in 1975.  // Nadine began her
pursuit of genealogy when she was very young.  It was an interest she
carried throughout her entire life.  She collected information on the
Wrenn and Blanton families and soon was helping other family members
in their research.  She was a life-long member of the first United
Methodist Church.  She was also a member of the United Daughters of
Confederacy, and the Magna  Carter Dames.  // Surviving is a niece,
Mrs. Charles Crabtree of Granbury and an nephew, Bob Blanton of
Houston; seven great-nieces and nephews and four great-great-nieces
and nephews.  // Miss Blanton will lie in state at Dannel Funeral Home
on Tuesday, September 10 from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.  (Researcher's
note:  Nadine was the granddaughter of Thomas J. Blanton and Elizabeth Jane Locke.)
