   SHERIFF'S MOTHER DIES IN HOSPITAL - Funeral for Mrs. Ben F. Blanton, 71,
mother of Sheriff Woody Blanton will be held today at 4 p.m. in
Johnson-Moore chapel.
   Rev. Finas A. Lewis, president of Southwest Bible Institute of
Waxahachie, and Rev. H.E. Smithee, First Assembly of God pastor, will
officiate.  Burial will be in Cedarlawn Memorial Park.
   Mrs. Blanton died Friday at 10 p.m. in a Sherman hospital where she had
been a patient several weeks.  She had been ill for the past several months.
   Born at Morristown, Tenn., Sept 15, 1888, Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.T.
Hodges, Mrs. Blanton moved to Whitewright with her parents when she was a
small child.  Her father was a farmer in the Whitewright community and later
operated a service station between Denison and Sherman.
   Mrs. Blanton attended Whitewright schools and married B.F. Blanton,
retired Katy Railroad machinist, Jan. 2, 1910 there (sic)  they moved to
Denison 38 years ago and resided at 706 West Morgan.  She was a member of
First Assembly of God Church and the Ladies Missionary Society.
   Survivors include her husband; two sons, Sheriff Woody Blanton of Denison
and Ben F. Blanton of Richardson; two daughters, Miss Louise Blanton, chief
clerk of the Denison city water department, and Mrs. Dorothy Wells, also of
Denison; a brother, W.D. Hodges of Sherman; two sisters Mrs. Mamie Mitchell
of Sherman and Mrs. Sam Cotton of Bonham; one granddaughter and one
great-granddaughter.
