JESSE BLANTON, BLANKET MAYOR, DIES; RITES SAT.
   Jesse Alford Blanton, 72,  Blanket mayor and a lifetime resident of Brown County, died at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in a local hospital following a long time illness.
   Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Blanket Presbyterian Church, with Rev. William H. Orton of Brownwood officiating.
Burial will be in the Blanket Cemetery.
   Mr. Blanton, a retired barber, was born in Blanket Nov. 10, 1883, and lived there all of his life.  He married the former Mae Putman (sic - Lucy May "Mae Lucille" Putman) in 1907.    Active in civic affairs, Mr. Blanton was secretary of the Blanket Masonic Lodge in addition to his duties as mayor of Blanket.  He was a member of the Presbyterian church.
   Survivors in addition to his wife include a son, James Blanton of Comanche; three daughters, Mrs. Charles Shanklin of Blanket, Mrs. Jessie Parks of San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. W.A. Mauldin of Fort Worth; a brother, Alpha Blanton of Blanket; three sisters, Mrs. Clint McMurry of Odessa, Mrs. Earl Falls of Comanche and Mrs. Tom Stewart of Brownwood; nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
  A son, Darius Blanton, was killed in June 1944 while serving with the U.S. Army during the Word War II D-Day landings in France.
  Davis-Morris Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
   (research note: Jesse Alfred Blanton was the son of Zachary Taylor Blanton and Margaret Hill and the grandson of Fannin Co., TX pioneers Josiah Blanton and Lucy Westbrook  and the g-grandson of the Rev. Jeremiah Blanton and Sarah Rebecca Womack of Rutherford Co., NC.

MRS. CHARLIE SHANKLIN
   Services for Mrs. Charlie D. Shanklin Sr., 63, of Blanket are pending at  Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
   Mrs. Shanklin was dead on arrival at Brownwood Community hospital at 4 p.m. Sunday following a brief illness.
  Born March 8, 1908 in Lohn, she was a housewife and a Presbyterian.
  Survivors include her husband; a son, Charlie D. of the U.S. Army in Germany; his mother, Mrs. J.A. Blanton of Fort Worth; two sisters, Mrs. W.A. Mauldin of Fort Worth and Mrs. Jessie Ruth Parks of Lakeside, Calif.; a brother, James A. Blanton of Alpine; and two grandchildren.
   (research note:  Lera Lee Blanton Shanklin was the daughter of Jesse Alford Blanton and Lucy May "Mae Lucille" Putman.  She was the granddaughter of Zachary Taylor Blanton and Margaret Hill and the great-granddaughter of Fannin Co., TX pioneers Josiah Blanton and Lucy Westbrook.)
