"The front of John
Bellis/Bellows' bible. John was born in Bourbon Co., KY. He is on page
106 of Fannin County Folks and Facts. His birthdate is listed on his tombstone
as 1-1-1813 but is listed in the book as 1814. I am sure the discrepancy
has something to do with the fact that his parents William Bellis and Margaret
Clarke married 12-28-1812. I don't have those Bibles so I don't have the
answer to this dilemma. The 1813 birthday does seem to fit with the fact
that John sold land he inherited from his mother to his uncle in 1834 (at
21) to move with a group of people in KY to Callaway Co. MO. "
"This John was mentioned
in the Fannin Co. book Plow-horse cavalry: the Caney Creek boys of the
Thirty-fourth Texas. By:, Robert S Weddle. He is mentioned on several
of the letters including one telling of the twin's birth to his second
wife Mary Elizabeth Martin."

cousin once removed, Alan Ray Scott, in Missouri City, TX. I thank him
