"Ladonia Family Has Seven Sons In Service---Five
Serving In Navy"
Ladonia, Sept. 18, - Seven sons in the
service.
That is the contribution of Mr &
Mrs T. Doan Bartley Sr. of this city.
An eighth son, T. Doan Jr., 15, is still
at home and is a student in Ladonia High School.
Five sons in the Navy, the other two
are in the army.
Paul T. Bartley, Shipfitter 1-C USN,
is the veteran of the family. He enlisted in the Navy march 1, 1940 and
was at Pearl Harbor when the nips pulled their sneak attack Dec. 7, 1941.
Sgt.
A.B. Bartley the oldest son, is in the Army and is now in England.
Prior to enlistment, he was employed by The Lone Star Gas Company at Fort
Worth.
Arthur Newton Bartley, employed by the
gas company at Grand Prairie, is a radio technician, first class, in the
Navy, completing his training at Treasure Island on Feb. 12, this year.
John
E. Bartley , who was also employed by the gas company at Grand Prairie,
is with the Seabees as a machinist's mate, first class. He is thought to
have been recently moved to a Pacific base of operations.
Cpl. Robert C. Bartley, US Army Medical
Corps, was commended for efficiency and bravery while stationed with a
portable hospital unit in New Guinea. He is still in that area.
Chief
Petty Officer C.Y. Bartley is with the Seabees and was stationed in
the South Pacific for more than a year. Prior to entering the Seabees he
was in the Naval Air Corps at Pensacola, Florida for two years. He is now
in a hospital in California.
The seventh son of the family in the
service is Roy Thomas Bartley, 18, who entered the Navy Feb. 16th this
year.
