Fannin County TXGenWeb Allen Family

Wilson Bruce Allen, son of David and Mary Wilson Bruce Allen. His father, David Allen had died in Haywood Co. TN in 1828. Wilson came to Fannin Co. TX in 1837 and some events that happened in his personal life can be found in the book written by his son, John Taylor Allen. The book is titled:" Early Pioneer Days of in Texas".

"William Newton Wright was best friends and a neighbor to Standmore H. Allen.( one of David Allen's son) They made a pact that if one of them was killed in the Civil War, that the other would bring the body back to be buried in the family cemetery. Three days after the war was over, they were on the way home and were ambushed.Standmore H. Allen was killed. William Newton Wright survived, stole a horse and wagon and brought Standmore H. Allen's body home."
