I am researching John P. SIMPSON and his wife, Sina, who came to Fannin Co. in 1837 with her sister, Nancy NEEDHAM CROOM. It is possible that Sina and Nancy's father, Lewis NEEDHAM came with them. Nancy was Bailey INGLISH's second wife. Bailey INGLISH and John P. SIMPSON were the founders of Bonham. I would like to exchange information with SIMPSON, CROOM, NEEDHAM, and INGLISH descendants..

How would be the best way to get an account of them there? Who is the person best to write or have do research? Sure would appreciate it if you would let me know because I'm at a dead end. Thanks beforehand.

I am trying to locate my Gr-gr-grandfather, John Wilson McDonald, b. abt. 1829 in TN. He married Mary Jane Mooney of TN. and are found in the 1870 Fannin Co. Census after which in 1871-2 they move to Ozark, Co., MO. In the1870 census it list him as Wil. or Wm born in ILL. Mary J. is listed as b. in TN. The confusion is that our family history listed him as William J. McDonald. Mary Jane is listed in a 1900 Ozark Co.,MO census as widowed and having had 8 children of which only 3 are alive. Our family only knows of 4., yet there was a 5th child listed in Fannin Co. never heard of again.

Children:  John H. b. 1854 in MO
                William. V  1856    MO
                 George W. 1864   TX
                 Wilerce       1869  TX
Can you help me with any other data.? The name of Wm. J. or John Wilson?, Perhaps 2 separate marriages for Mary Jane or is this the same person? Where did all her children go? Judy Parkins Wed, 4 Mar 1998 13:17:37

Peggy Herridge Wilson Sat, 7 Mar 1998 09:39:10
I research the Herridge surname (clerks, census takers, etc. spelled it many different ways, thus the variant in the subject line).
I am trying to prove the Herriage's in Fannin Co., Texas and the Herrages in Georgia are related to my Herridge's who came from Georgia to Alabama to Missississippi to Texas.
Would like to share information with anyone researching any spelling of this name. We have a discussion group of about 17 people at this time.

Martha L. (SNELL) KEENE was the wife of Henry KEENE. Henry was drowned in 1857 returning to Fannin County and his body was not recovered. Martha was born about 1811 and died after 1866. It has been suggested that Martha remarried and left Fannin County for awhile but returned again as a widow and finished out her life in Fannin County. I am looking for the burial site and birth and death dates for Martha L. (SNELL) KEENE. Also, I am looking for a Death Notice for Henry KEENE. If you have any information or suggestions for how I might continue my search, I would appreciate your sharing. Thank you for your time.

I am looking for anyone with knowledge of WILLIAM FRY b. Knoxville, TN and d 1917 in Telephone, TX. He was married to MARY SAVAGE. They had seven children: JANNIE, LUCY, ADA, MINNIE, KENNETH, CHARLIE and JERRY LAMAR. JERRY LAMAR FRY was my grandfather. I have been told that either his last name or my great grandfathers last name was GIPSON and was changed to FRY but I'm not sure how that happened. JERRY LAMAR FRY married ADELIA BARBARA ANN FRAZIER from Houston, TX and they had 11 children: WILLIAM, ODIST, LILLIE DEE, EMMER, OSCAR, LEONA, ESSIE, GENE, J.L. ROBERTA, AND LILLIE GUNEVA. My mother LILLIE GUNEVE and two of my aunts go back to a reunion e very year in Telephone. If you have any knowledge please let me know. This is very confusing since both my grandparents are dead and they rarely talked to anyone of the GIPSON last name. MINNIE's adopted daughter GLADYS has more information than anyone and she has trouble remembering much. Thanks!

My great-grandfather, Edward Ervin Looney, moved to Ladonia in Fannin County when my grandfather was 6 (1894). He died in Commerce, Hunt County, Texas. His wife, Armilda (HEACKER) LOONEY also died in Commerce.
He was born in Hamblin Co., TN and she in Grainger Co., TN. His father, William Carroll, and grandfather, Absalom David were born in neighboring Hawkins County. His great- grandfather, Michael, was born in Botetourt County, Virgina. His great-great grandfather, Absalom, and 3g-grandfather, Robert LUNNEY, were both born on the Isle of Man in the Irish Sea (0ften referred to as Ireland in census records). We *think* Robert's father was Joseph LLEWNIE, but we don't have proof.
Armilda's "Millie" father, Dr. William Joseph Heacker (Hüecker), and grandfather, Joseph Johannes Hüecker were born in Valmede, Westfälia, Prussia. Her great-grandfather, Adam Hücker and great-grandfather, also Adam Hüecker, were born in Augsburg, Bavaria (later Germany).

I know "Erve" had only three sons.  They were:

Joseph Paul "Slim" LOONEY       died in 1975, Floyd Co.,

      no children
Clyde LOONEY                    died in the 1918 flu
                                   epidemic
only 19 at death.  No children.

He also had several daughters.  The ones I know about were:

        no children
   ? LOONEY              married L.Z. STUDEVILLE

Bonham Newspaper records from the 1800s The small town newspaper museum at the LBJ Library in Austin, TX, has copies of the Bonham Daily newspaper from the 1870s. I visited this museum many years ago when they were microfilming the newpaper. Even though the papers were around 100 years old they were in perfect condition. I'm a bit confused about the name as they had only weekly copies of the paper.

Hi!, My first visit to this site, it's great! Am looking for info on HAWLEY and SHERWOOD family lines. My grandfather was Aaron SHERWOOD (b. 1898 in TX) but it appears that he may have been adopted into the Alvin SHERWOOD family. Aaron was either full or part or adopted brother to Calvin SHERWOOD (b. Feb 1900 in Fannin Co, d. May 1975 in Lamar Co). Calvin's father was Alvin SHERWOOD (b. 1876 in MI) and his mother was Martha SEALS (b. Feb 1874 in TN). Alvin's father was Thomas SHERWOOD, who owned his own place/farm in section 6 of Fannin Co. (1898). Martha's brother was Perry SEALS (of Lamar Co. in 1910). Am also looking for any info on Isaac HAWLEY (b.1864 in TX). Thx to anyone who can provide any info at all to help me out!
