Pioneers of Ellis County William Hosford   Born in North Carolina, the oldest child of Carter Hosford and Jane Cobb, natives of that state. William first married Isabel Rose, daughter of Jefferson Rose, and moved to Missouri where she died in 1857. Two years later he married Mary Powers, daughter of David Powers and Lovisa Wilson. Of their fourteen children, several lived in Texas - Frank (Ellis County); Lula A. (wife of J. B. Matlock, Hale County); Sarah, wife of Dr. J. A.
