Pioneers of Ellis County CSA Veteran Francis Marion Gober, 1842 - 1919 Submitted by Annie Freeman Francis Marion Gober (my great-uncle) is buried in the Milford Cemetery.  He served in the 4th Miss. Calvary as a private and  in Co. H, Miss. 23rd Inf. as a sergeant. He filed his pension application in Texas in 1913 and stated "I was in prison at Camp Morton, Ind. Had been in prison 18 months. Captured in west Tennessee."  The only major battle he was in was at Fort Donelson and he was captured Feb. 16, 1862 at Obion Co. Tenn.   Copyright © 2005-2016, Ellis County TXGenWeb.
