Map of Texas Electric Interurban Lines from Dallas.

Jan 1, 1917 the two Interurban Companies consolidated under the name of Texas Electric Railway.

The trains, connected by wires to overhead electric lines, ran daily from Dallas to Corsicana and Waco and north to Denison. It was called the Interurban or "inurban" for short and was the Texas Electric Railway Co. These ran about every 2 hours throughout the day and evening.

The first track was built from Sherman and Denison to Dallas in 1900, and other lines added in the next few years.

The development of automobiles, and Henry Ford's Model T which everyone could afford, was the main reason for the decline in business.

The Dallas-Corsicana line ended in 1940.
