Austin Statesman, Austin, Texas Dec. 2, 1901

Captain Faulkner died yesterday afternoon in Chicago.  A telegram was received here last night notifying relatives of his death.  He had been ailing for several months  and was was confined to his bed here for several weeks prior to his removal to a Chicago hospital about a  month ago in the hope that he could receive more skilled medical treatment -  his complaint being of a cancerous nature.  He was accompanied by his wife who was with him at the time of his death.

Captain Faulkner was well known throughout Texas and had been prominent in political and railroad circles for years. Alsdorf in Ellis County was named for him. [See Alsdorf Community under "Ghost Towns"]
