Obituary James (Jim) Farrar Ellis Pioneer, 82, dies at Palmer   Dallas Morning News, July 12, 1942 James (Jim) Farrar, member of an early Ellis County family, died Friday night at his home near Palmer after a short illness. He was born in Texas Jan. 29, 1860, the oldest son of Capt. Simon Bowden and Leila Smith  Farrar. He was a grandson of James Farrar who came from Mississippi to Texas in 1840 and settled in Shelby County and James Smith who came to Texas in 1845 and was one of the organizers of Ellis County. In 1856 his father Capt. S B. Farrar, who had served in the Mexican War, perchased land northwest of Palmer on Red Oak Creek and raised find blooded horses and cattle both there and in Palo Pinto and Cottle Counties. In 1884 Mr. Farrar married Miss Anna Marshall. He was a member of the Christian church and a staunch Democrat. He has six grandsons actively participating in the present war inall parts of the world. He is survived by his wife and eleven children, Mrs. Fannie Duff and Mrs. Iran Sutton Ferris, Texas; William Wade,  J. B., Walter Sid, Simon; Mrs. Henry Tate of Palmer, Texas, Arch of Waxahachie and Mrs. T. C. Hooker of Dallas and one brother, Sid Farrar of Waxahachie and one sister, Mrs. W. A Clopton of Palmer.
