Obituary A. J. Clayton Waxahachie Enterprise Jan. 29, 1892 A. J. Clayton died of pneumonia at 3 am Monday morning in Waxahachie. He had been a resident of this county for a number of years working in various occupations. He had several daughters and one son, Mack. After two of the daughters married their sisters went to live with them. Mr. Clayton had been boarding with Mack until he was taken sick. His brother, J. T. Clayton of Cleburne, was notified and came to look after him. Clayton was an Elder of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and regularly attended. Funeral services were held Monday evening with burial in the city cemetery. Mr. A. J. Clayton Jan. 29, 1892 Mr. A. J. Clayton died of pneumonia at 3 oclock Monday morning in Waxahachie. Mr. Clayton had been a citizen for a number of years, mostly engaged in bookkeeping for various business institutions. He had a hard struggle to provide for his household,having a family of mostly daughters; his only son, Mack, had been self supporting, but his tender years made it necessary for his father to look after him. Two daughters have married and the two younger daughters have gone to live with them. The father broke up house keeping a short time ago and took a room with Mack over a business on the square where lived as best they could until he was taken sick. His brother, J. T. Clayton, of Cleburne, is here with the family. The deceased was an elder of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a regular attendant. Burial was Monday evening at the Waxahachie cemetery.
