Union Hill   Union Hill is located southwest of Bristol between Bristol and Crisp.  John and Martha Ann (Davis) Mullican settled southwest of Bristol in 1867 in this little community.  Their children were: William Marion, Andrew Jackson, Green Emmett and Susan Harriet.  Jonathan and Sara Kolb moved there in 1871.  Their son, Andrew Jackson, attended school when Mr. Woods was teacher.  Andrew lived to the age of one hundred two, spending his last years in Ennis with his daughter, Maggie Kolb Winterroud.  Another early settler, Martha L. Wright, came in December 1883.  She was a relative of Joshua Brock of Bristol and married James Phillip Hefly before moving to this community. On March 3, 1885, Amanda J. Daniel, widow of James Daniel, sold for the consideration of one dollar to R. S. Daniel, T. A. Daniel, V. A. Mullican, L. S. Baldwin, Mary E. Orr and James W. Daniel two hundred fifty seven acres of land.  The deed stipulated two hundred sixty, but three acres were reserved and donated for school and church purposes.  This same plot was sold by Henry G. Orr and Mary E. Orr to William Marion Mullican Dec. 25, 1881. In July, August and September, 1892, William Mullican and Si Brock paid J. A. Hesser in Ellis $543.14 for materials for Union Hill School house.  A note was made on Aug. 27, 1892, to Hesser for $526.62 and signed by E. E. Brock, W. A. Johnson, W. M. Mullican and T. E. Workman.  Cost of materials plus labor amounted to $604.15.  The old building was bought by William Mullican for twenty-six dollars. Charles Harlen Davenport began his first term as teacher Nov. 28, 1892, at a salary of $67 per month for six months.  In 1895, it was increased to $85 per month for five months.  His mother, Mrs. James M. Davenport, often assisted with teaching without pay.  The school building, which also served as a church, burned in 1911 and was never rebuilt.  Pupils were transferred to Bristol school and church members went there for services. In 1896, Charles Davenport married one of his pupils, Minnie Pearson, daughter of C. Pearson.  Mr. Pearson, a devout Christian and supporter of the church, was reprimanded for driving his cattle on Sunday in search of water. When Union Hill gin came into being, a note, dated Oct. 15, 1891, to J. L. Cerf,  was signed by W. M. Mullican, W. Tucker, W. D. Pitts, J. A. Noel, A. J. Mullican, E. E. Brock, Jerome Brock and J. M.
