Henry

 

This community was located about three miles east of Red Oak, between Ferris and Rockett, in northern Ellis County on Cottonwood Branch and northeast of the community of Sylvania or Brushy Creek.  There was a store, post office, gin, and blacksmith shop.  A few hundred yards away stood Lawndale School.  Postmasters were Lee H. Hart, June 5, 1896; Zachariah J. Pogue, Jan. 10, 1899; William R. Kin, Oct. 26, 1899; Edgar M. Carman Sept. 25, 1901.  The office was discontinued June 30, 1903 and mail went to Red Oak.  The community was not shown on the 1936 county highway map.
