Ellis County Marriage Records Bertie Mae Odom - Bryant Helton Contributed by Mary Maxwell   The home of Mrs. B. Odom, North Clay Street, Ennis, Texas, was the scene of a pretty quiet home wedding, Wednesday, November 25, 1908, in which her daughter, Bertie Mae and Bryant Helton, were joined in Holy  Wedlock.  The parlor and reception hall were tastefully decorated with palms, ferns and white chrysanthemums.  At 7:30 the bridal party took their places under a beautiful wedding bell from which festooned tiny white ribbons and here in the presence of relatives and a very few friends, Rev. H. R. Ford, in a beautiful and impressive ceremony spoke the words that made them man and wife. Congratulations being order, the ribbons suspended from the Wedding Bell were gently pulled and the happy couple were showered with rice.  The evening was spent in pleasant conversation and many good wishes for Mr. and Mrs. Helton. The bride wore a gown of sheer white silk with dainty lace trimmings and looked her sweetest.  The groom wore the conventional black.  The bride is one of our Ennis girls, having been reared here and is greatly loved by a large circle of friends. The groom is a successful young planter and is held in high esteem by all who know him as a gentleman of sterling qualities, well worthy of the confidence and respect he possesses among his friends. Among relatives present were: Mr. W. W. Linville of Wichita Falls, Allen J. Owens of Ft. Worth, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Owens of Rankin, and Mrs. J. H. Owens and children of Telico. The happy couple were the recipients of many beautiful and useful presents.  Mr. and Mrs. Helton will be at home to their friends until January 1st at 612 N.
