C.R. Whitford Rites conducted August 7

Reburial services were held at 3 p.m., Aug. 7, in the Church of Christ for Cpl. Clyde R. Whitford, who was killed in action April 10, 1945, in Germany.

Burial was in the Spur Cemetery, following military services by the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Rev. Paul Southern, Abilene, officiated.

Cpl. Whitford was born November 24, 1921 in Vernon. He married Francis Wooley in Oklahoma, and made his home in Dickens County before entering the armed forces.

He is survived by three brothers and two sisters: William R. Whitford, Azle; M.W. Whitford, Turkey; R.P. Vardiman, Post; Mrs. A.B. Dameron, Hereford; and Mrs. Brintly Smith, Monahans.

Campbell's Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
