J.W. Vickrey, 72, of Afton died Wednesday, November 1, 2006 in Spur. Services were 2PM, Friday, November 3, 2006 at Highway 70 Church of Christ in Spur with Bob Martin officiating. Burial was in Spur Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home. Mr. Vickrey was born December 13, 1933 in Roaring Springs to John William and Sally Andrews Vickrey. He graduated from Patton Springs High School in 1952. J.W. married Wilma Jean Kimmel on July 3, 1953 in Hobbs, NM. She preceded him in death in 1998. He was a lifetime resident of Dickens County. He served on the Patton Springs school board for several years, and was a farmer.J.W. is survived by one son, Buster Vickrey and wife Sandy of Afton; two daughters, Mildred Bridge and husband DeWayne of Weatherford, and Patti Hagar and husband Craig of Spur; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
