Services for Jean Vickrey, 61, of Afton, were Sunday, June 14, 1998 at the Highway 70 church of Christ in Spur. Van Cash of Afton officiated. Burial was in the Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home.

Jean died Saturday June 12 on her farm in Afton. She was born July 15, 1936 in Spur. She married J.W. Vickrey, Jr. July 3, 1953 in Hobbs, New Mexico. She lived most of her life in Dickens County. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She was a member of the Patton Springs Young Homemakers club in Afton. She was a homemaker and a farmer.

Survivors include her husband, J. W. Vickrey, Afton; one son, Buster Vickrey, Slaton; two daughters, Mildred Bridge, Weatherford; Patti Hagar, Spur; her mother, Emma Kimmel, Gustine; three brothers, Forrest Kimmel, Brenham; Johnny Kimmel, Grand Saline; Eddie Kimmel, Commanche; one sister, Susie Harrison, Gustine; and seven grandchildren.
