Services for Foy Frank Vernon, 87, Spur, were held Friday, March 11, at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Vernon, Earth, officiating.

Mr. Vernon died, March 8, about 11:45 a.m. in the Spur Care Center. He was born October 3, 1900 in Haskell. He had lived in Dickens County since 1909. He was a former school teacher and banker and served for several years as Tax Assessor-Collector for the Spur Independent School District.

He married Lucille Lydia Tunnell on September 16, 1922 in Spur. She died on December 17, 1974. He was a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Frank Vernon, Bartlesville, OK; (one son, James Ralph Vernon, preceded him in death on December 26, 1972); three brothers, Sam P. Vernon, Vancouver, Washington; Harvey Ellis Vernon, Cave Junction, OR; Fred Ayres Vernon, Ontario, Canada; (three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death); seven grandchildren: Laura Ann Heald, Richard Frank Vernon, Robert Alan Vernon, Lianne Marie Vernon, Roy Alan Vernon, James Pat Vernon, Julie Lynn Vernon and six great grandchildren.

Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery with Campbell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
