Services for Nicanora Ortiz Vasquez, 66, of Spur, were held 11:00 am, Monday, April 26, 2004 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Paul Karieakatt officiating. Burial was under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home.Mrs. Vasquez died April 23, 2004 in Lubbock.
Mrs. Vasquez was born January 10, 1938 to Pablo and Dominga Garza Ortiz in Pawnee, TX. She married John Vasquez on August 22, 1959 in Spur.
He preceded her in death in 1998. She is preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents, Dominga and Pablo and 2 sisters, Ramona Otevedo and Geneva Vasquez.
She is survived by 8 children: Nicky Vargas of Dickens, Ramona Ramos of Plainview, Andy Vargas, Ricky Vasquez, Alicia Tover and Debbie Olivarez all of Spur, Domingo Vasquez of Gravette, AR, and Monica Vasquez of Jarrel, TX; 7 brothers and sisters, Guadalupe Ortiz of Jarrel, TX, Ray Ortiz of Georgetown, Lydia Alanice of Little River, Paula Hendy of Temple, Josie Hernandez of Corpus Christi, Henrietta Olivarez of Amarillo and Raul Ortiz Wilmer of Hutchs, TX; 23 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and a loving stepfather, Alfonso Vasquez.
