SPUR (Special) Graveside services for Lester J. Varnell, Sr., 92, of Mineral Wells will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Spur Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. C.L. Atkinson, pastor of Afton Baptist Church officiating.

Interment will be directed by Campbell Funeral Home.

Varnell died Monday, April 25, 1994 in Palo Pinto General Hospital in Mineral Wells.

He was born on Jan. 24, 1902 in Waxahachie. He married Myrtle Helen Edgar on May 24, 1924 in Dickens. She died on Oct. 22, 1993. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Baptist Church. A son Melvin L. preceded him in death.

Survivors include a son, L.J. "Jake", Jr. of Mineral Wells; two brothers, Loy of Show Low, AZ; and Richard of Afton; a sister Ethel McCarty of Lubbock; five grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
