Obituary

Services for Jack Ussery, 84, of Ralls were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 24 at Adams Funeral Home in Ralls with the Rev. Randy Bartley, pastor of Ralls First Baptist church, officiating. Burial was in the Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.

Mr. Ussery died January 21, 2000 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. He was born May 2, 1915 in Afton.

He married Leva George on July 18, 1937 in Frankston, Texas. He owned Ussery Applicance Company and had worked for Cox Furniture. He had also worked for the Ralls School System in maintenance. He moved to Ralls in 1959 from Idalou. He had also lived in Hereford, Haskell, Canyon, and Spur.

He was preceded in death by two granddaughters and one grandson and one great great grandson.

Survivors include his wife, Leva Ussery of Ralls; one son, Charles Ussery of Oklahoma City, OK; five daughters, Jowanna Martin of Littlefield, Lois Hurni of Abilene, Helen Yarbrough of Canyon, Charlene Edwards of Paris, Texas, and Betty McCutchen of Ralls; 19 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren.

Leva UsseryServices for Leva Odell Ussery, 95, of Ralls, will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, December 31, 2010 at Adams Funeral Home in Ralls with Michael Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in the Spur Memorial Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls. Visitation is from 5-6 PM Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ussery passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at the Crosbyton Nursing Home in Crosbyton. She was born March 22, 1915 in Cherokee County, Texas to the late David Kevin and Viola (Gatlin) George.

She married Jack Buster Ussery July 18, 1937 in Frankston, Texas. He preceded her in death January 21, 2000. A homemaker, Leva and Jack owned and operated Ussery Appliance Co. in Ralls for many years.

They moved to Ralls in 1959 from Idalou and had also lived in Hereford, Haskell, Canyon and Spur.

She is preceded in death by two daughters, Helen Yarbrough and Charlene Edwards, four brothers, Leonard George, Odis George, Vodi George and Norman George, three sisters, Grace Powell, Otis Cook and Eva Smith, three grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Survivors include one son, Charles Ussery of Oklahoma City, OK, three daughters, Jowanna Martin (Wess) of Littlefield, Lois Hurni (Wayne) of Abilene, and Betty McCutchen of Ralls, 19 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and 30 great great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Ralls EMS or Ralls Fire Dept.
