Services for Elmer Orion Turbyfill were held Monday, April 4, at the First Baptist Church, Spur, J.E. Lee officiated, assisted by Rev. Doc Love.
Turbyfill was born on September 8, 1902 in Alice, OK. He died in the Post hospital on April 3, 1960. His death was attributed to a heart attack.
He came to Dickens County in 1922, and on May 12, 1923 he took Miss Myrtle Spraberry as his wife. He was converted to the Christian religion in 1924 and was a member of the Baptist Church.
At the time of his death, the Turbyfills made their home at Kalgary, where they had lived since 1935.
Survivors include his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Flora Inez Alexander, Spur; Mrs. Lee Orion Fry, Post, and Mrs. Myrtle Murrow of Lubbock; two sons, Harley W. Turbyfill of Post, Harl Dean of Lubbock; a brother, Martin Turbyfill of Spur; four sisters, Eula Barrett Haskell, Nita Allison, Lubbock, Alma Spraberry of Dickens and Edith Hensley, Lubbock, his mother, Mrs. Alice Turbyfill of Lubbock and eight grandchildren.
