Funeral services for M.E. Tree, 83, were held Monday at 3 p.m. in the Spur Church of Christ, Loyd Womack officiating, assisted by Robert Williams, and Ken McCutchin. Masonic rites were conducted at graveside.

Mr. Tree was born in 1878 in Collin County. He came to Dickens County in 1918 and had resided in the Highway community since that time. He died March 3 in Spur Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. He was a retired farmer and member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Nelda Blackmon, Bakersfield, CA; Mrs. Oleta Hahn, Spur; two sons, Carl Tree, Bailey, CO; Wilbur Tree, Los Angeles, CA; two sisters, Mrs. Andrew Giles, Salina; Mrs. Mattie Tidwell, Gunter; three brothers, charley Tree, Whitewright; John Tree, Arlington; George Tree, Blue Ridge, TX; Ten grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren also are listed.

Interment was in Spur Cemetery.
