U.S.Flag   Robert "Slim" Thomson, 71, died on Monday, July 21, 1997, at his residence in Olney, TX. Graveside services were held Wednesday, July 23, at 1:00 p.m. in the Spur Memorial Cemetery in Spur, TX. The Rev. Tommy Henderson of Bethel Baptist Church officiated.

Mr. Thomson was born March 18, 1926 in Dallas, TX. He married Gladys Stewart on September 18, 1946 and she preceded him in death in November, 1990. He married Dorothy Hendry on November 25, 1995 in Tyler. He was a retired Ranger.

He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Spur, Texas. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the VFW Post in Spur. He was employed with the Texas Parks and Wildlife as a Ranger at Possum Kingdom State Park. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Roberta Lynn Thomson in 1952.

The former Spur resident resided in Olney and Possum Kingdom State Park.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, Olney; three daughters, Betty Morris, Irving, TX; Myrtle Gawronski, Tyler, TX; Janie Blood, Lake Charles, LA; three step-daughters, Mahana McKinney, GA; Tracey Poarch, Mesquite; Melissa Hendry, Olney; three stepsons, James Benson Hendry, Olney; Ronnie Beesley, Ohio; Christopher Hendry, Ohio; 19 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
