July 9, 1891 - The first newspaper published in Dickens county, edited and published by Mose C. Harris. Publication lasted almost one year.The Shinnery Clipper

1940 - W.J. Hale from Plains, Texas published this newspaper until he moved away and since that time the town of Dickens has been without a paper.Texas Spur

The Texas Spur, March 13, 1941
Mrs. F.L. Cherry, who underwent an operation for the removal of her right eye Wednesday, March 5th, in a Lubbock hospital, has been returned to her home in Antelope. She is reported to be improving satisfactorily.
