Located on Highway 82 as you go through town on the north side of the highway.

The Dickens Historical Museum is the work of several volunteers interested in preserving the history of Dickens County. The building was once used as a hardware store. Early pioneer and ranching heritage collection. Includes county, city, and area histories, photo gallery, antique furniture, appliances, school happenings, military information and clothing. Also has a small library and reading room. The cupola that once topped the Dickens County Courthouse is on display here along with antique farm machinery on the south lawn, a nice size collection of branding irons, pieces of old barbed wire and horse bits and bridles.

  • Main Room - items representing our federal, state and local government, and area schools. Various civic, fraternal and religious organizations are also represented here.
  • Middle Room - domestic items
  • Back Room - clothing and furniture dating back to the late to mid-1800´s.
  • Library - small collection of books, annuals, year books, maps and photographs.
  • Office area - ranching heritage photographs and various types of antique office equipment.
  • Back porch - an old blacksmith´s table, cast iron wash pots and wash boards.
  • South yard - antique implements representing our pioneer farming heritage.
  • Barn - saddles, tack, racing hacks, branding irons and other items representing our ranching heritage.
