LOCAL NOTES:

Marshell CRISWELL came in today on the No. 1.

Flue inspector, George YEAGER, will commence his duty of inspection flues next Monday, and our citizens should injustice to themselves , assist him in his work as much as possible.

He may discover a defective flue in your residence which, if not  remedied, would cause the destruction of you home by fire.

WALKER BROTHERS will open their skating rink tonight.

Cal DEBORAH, after spending several days with his cousin, M.M. MCCORD, at Breslaw, is at home.

C.S. RIGGS, T.J. FITCH, and J.H. DEBORAH attended the Hobson- ARNOLD “kissing” at Corpus. They reported a good time.

JOE RYAN returned today from Houston.

The city free school will open next Monday.

SCHOOL BOARD MEETING

County Free School will open Nov 1.

The City School Board met Monday night in their regular monthly session with B.P. STEPHENSON in the chair and trustees OLSEN, MOORE, TURBEVILLE, and secretary BRIAN, President, and professor SWANN as a visitor.

The purchasing committee composed of OLSEN, TURBEVILLE, and DYAS was instructed to receive bids for wood to be used at the schoolhouse this winter.

A bill of Cook & Tipton’s for $11.30 was allowed.

LCOAL NOTES

 

Stratton School will open Monday Oct. 3, will Professor S. HOPKINS as teacher. A very successful term is anticipated.

J.D. SHALL the handsome young clerk in the building department at the SAP, returned today from a short trip to Austin.

Mr. Newt CRAWFORD, from Hochheim, visited his best girl Sunday.

Miss Alice MANNING is reported as being seriously ill.

“Boy” BENBOW is moving to the old BISSITT place, near Chicolete.
