Nicholas Washington Walker

Nicholas Washington Walker was married to his second wife Alice Mercer when living in Texline. They had one son born in Texline (that I know of) Carl Fred Walker who was born May 7, 1894 and died Aug. 8, 1949 in San Luis Obispo, CA. There are several children before and after, but Fred is the only one I can be certain that was born in Texline.
N.W. Walker was born in Oxford, NY on April 2, 1841. He served in the union cavalry during the Civil War in Company M 10th Illinois cavalry. Married his first wife (Mary Ann Tripp) in Carbondale, Illinois on April 14, 1864. In the 1880 census he is listed in Elk City, KS with occupation as carpenter. He died in Childress, TX on Feb 25, 1920.
Alice Mercer Walker died on August 18, 1902 in Clarendon, TX
