RALLS (Special) - Services for Joe Bob Wyrick, 63, of Ralls will be at 4 p.m. today in Emma Church of Christ with Vance Davis, minister, and Roy Shave, Church of Christ, minister form Bellville, officiating.

Burial will be in Ralls Cemetery under direction of Carter-Adams Funeral Home.

Wyrick died at 1:24 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, 1994, in Lubbock's Methodist Hospital.

He was born on Aug. 20, 1930, in Childress County. He moved to Ralls in 1964 from Maple. He married Betty Guthrie on April 24, 1951, in Fort Sumner, NM. He was a member of Emma Church of Christ. He served two terms as mayor of Ralls. He owned and operated Ralls Delinting until 1978 and served on the board of directors. He managed Ralls Co-op Gin from 1964 to 1972. He served on the Ralls Ambulance Board in 1975 and was named Ralls' Man of the year in 1983 by the Ralls Chamber of Commerce. He was a U.S. Army Veteran.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Kirt of Floydada; a daughter, Shannon Wideman of Lubbock; his mother, Lucille West of Wellington; two brothers, Drue of Big Spring and Danny of Wellington; a sister, Edalaine Neubauer of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and four grandchildren.

Betty Charlene (Guthrie) Wyrick, 83, passed away Friday, January 15, 2016 in Lubbock. She was born July 3, 1932 in Olympus Community in Childress County, Texas to Clifford and Laura Bell (Mitchell) Guthrie. She married Joe Bob Wyrick on April 24, 1951 in Fort Sumner, New Mexico. Betty was employed as the executive secretary for American Cotton Seed Delinting Association for many years, and was also employed for PCCA. She had mentored a cooking class for The EDGE Ralls Mentoring Program, and had mentored many of the children at Emma Church of Christ. Betty was very involved in church activities and volunteered much of her time, spending countless hours preparing and delivering her delicious home cooked meals to many residents in Crosby County.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Laura Belle Guthrie; her husband Joe Bob; and a great-grandson, Aden Nathaniel Perales.

Betty is survived by her daughter; Shannon McDuff and husband Danny of Ralls; son Kirt Wyrick and wife Suzanne of Lorenzo; brother, Paul Guthrie and wife Sue of Colorado; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren, with one great-grandchild and one great-great grandchild on the way.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, January 18, 2016 at Emma Church of Christ, with Doug Rainbolt officiating and Tim Mills assisting. Burial will follow in Ralls Cemetery, under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.

Because of her love of children, the family suggests memorials be made to Children�s Home of Lubbock.
