U.S.Flag   Gene Woodard photoFrank Eugene “Gene” Woodard, 86, of Ralls, passed away peacefully at his home on the evening of Friday, July 25, 2014. Visitation will be held at Adams Funeral Home in Ralls from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, July 28th. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 29th, at Lorenzo First Baptist Church with Rev. D.L. Lowrie officiating. Burial will follow in the Ralls Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.

Gene was born December 31, 1927, in Childress County to Jess and Avy Woodard and was the eleventh of fourteen siblings. He was a gifted athlete at Robertson High School and later served as a medic in the Army in Korea. On November 26, 1947, he married Vera Norene Caddell, and they spent more than fifty years farming in Crosby County. Gene attended and was actively involved with Lorenzo First Baptist Church. He was a lover of crappie, chewing gum, Texas Tech athletics, any kind of basketball, country music, and western movies.

Survivors include his wife, Norene Woodard of Ralls; children, Sandra Fiel of Lubbock, Janice Williams of Weatherford, and Larry and Kim Woodard of Manhattan, Ill.; sister Wanda Ruth Caddell of Ralls; fourteen grandchildren, Angela Wichman, Lisa and Mark Leech, Phillip Williams, Laura Dominguez, Jeremy Fiel, Nathan Fiel, Rebecca Sheely, Paul Woodard, Anna Woodard, Benjamin Woodard, Jared Woodard, Chloe Woodard, Seth Woodard, and Evangeline Woodard; and ten great-grandchildren, Isaiah Rodriguez, Macy Forbes, Novalyn Dominguez, Arturo Alvarado, Aubrie Alvarado, Nadya Alvarado, Sage Wichman, Kaycee Leech, Lane Williams, and Declan Sheely.

He was predeceased by his son, Randy Woodard.

Memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association, Hospice of Lubbock, or Wounded Warrior Project.
