Mrs. Laura Wilson, former owner of Ralls Banner, dies

Funeral services were conducted Monday in Slaton First Methodist Church for Mrs. Laura Frances Wilson, 74. Mr. Rollo Davidson, pastor of the Methodist Church, Slaton, officiated, assisted by Mr. Loyd Mayhew, Brownfield. Burial was in Ralls Cemetery under direction of Williams Funeral Home, Slaton, and Carter Funeral Home, Ralls.

Mrs. Wilson, the former Mrs. A.C. (Dick) Hyatt, with her husband, was publisher of the Ralls Banner from 1916 to 1920 and from 1925 following the death of Hyatt until 1938, when she married W.R. Wilson, Slaton. Her sons sold the Banner to Leroy Land in 1940.

Mrs. Wilson was active in church work in Ralls and in Slaton after moving there.

She is survived by her husband, W.R. Wilson; two sons, J.W. (Red), Portland, OR, and Carl, Commerce; three sisters, Mrs. P.H. Reynolds, Terrell; Mrs. J.M. Cannon, Cleburne; and Mrs. James Q. Moore, Keene; two brothers, Geroge Wilson, Elmo, TX and Hugh L. Wilson, Ft. Worth; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were C.E. Parish, Ralls; Ray Hopper, Petersburg; Ed Moseley, Edward Haddock, Joe Walker Jr., and Jack Halliburton, all of Slaton.

Mrs. C.E. Parish is a niece of Mrs. Wilson's.
