Funeral services were held for Morris Haney Wideman of Ralls

U.S.Flag     Funeral services for Morris Haney Wideman, 83, of Ralls will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 2, 2008 at the Ralls First Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Carson and Rev. Ken Bevel officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.

Haney passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at the Ralls Nursing Home where he had been a resident for the past year. Haney was born August 20, 1924 in Cone, Crosby County, Texas. He was the oldest son of Morris J. and Vada Lott Wideman. He graduated from Ralls High School in 1941 and spent from 1943 to 1946 in the US Army, serving 13 months in Germany and France during WWII. He married Melba Barnhart at the Cone Baptist Church on July 6, 1946. In the fall of that year, he and Melba attended Wayland College in Plainview for a year and then returned to farm in the Cone Community in 1947. Haney farmed from 1947 until 1984, retiring after 39 years. In 1985 he then began working for Crosby County Fuel Association and in 1995 he retired again at the age of 71.

A lifelong resident of Crosby County, Haney was a deacon at the First Baptist Church at Cone and later at First Baptist Church in Ralls. He served as a member of the Cone and Ralls school boards for 16 years. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Crosby County Farm Bureau and Cone Gin.

Haney is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Laney Wideman.

Survivors are his wife, Melba of Ralls, his children; Spike and Camilla Wideman of Lubbock, Mark and Linda Wideman of Plainview, Mel and Judy Wideman of Midland, and Mardi and Rick Grant of Abilene, a brother and his wife; Bob and Betty Wideman of Ralls, a sister-in-law; Louise Gideon of McKinney, 11 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.

Casket bearers will be Mel Wideman, Mark Wideman, Spike Wideman, Rick Grant, Kenny Wideman and Chance Wideman.

Memorials may be made to Ralls First Baptist Church, Box 667, Ralls, Tx 79357 or to a favorite charity.
