Services for Laney Wideman, 48, of 3001 45th St., will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the First Baptist Church.

Officiating will be the Rev. I.D. Walker, assistant pastor, ad the Rev. J.T. Bolding, retired assistant pastor. Burial will be in Ralls Cemetery under direction of Carter Funeral Home of Ralls.

Wideman's body will remain at Sanders Funeral Home until noon Monday.

He died Friday evening in Methodist Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Wideman, a Cone native, married the former Louise Isom on July 21, 1945, in Ralls.

He moved to Lubbock in 1945, from Cone.

Wideman worked for the Lubbock Post Office as a mailman for 30 1/2 years. He was a member of the City and Rural Letter Carriers Association. Wideman also was a salesman for Pioneer Lincoln Mercury for 17 years.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Brad of the home; three daughters, Beth of the home, Layna of 6302 Elgin Ave. and Mrs. Brenda Christopherson of New Richmond, Wis.; his mother, Mrs. Vada Wideman of Cone; two brothers, Morris Haney Wideman and Bob Wideman, both of Ralls; and a grandchild.
